DC to AC Inverters, also referred to as AC power converters or (more commonly) Power Inverters, can be used to convert 12 volt current from a DC power source, such as the battery in your automobile or marine craft, to 110 volt current in order to operate devices such as laptops, MP3 players, TV’s, VCR’s, DVD players, and other equipment designed for standard 110 volt (household) current. In short, a power inverter is a device that allows you to operate electronics and small tools or appliances from your car, SUV, RV, boat or any other vehicle equipped with a 12 volt DC power source (typical auto or marine battery). There are also inverters which allow you to operate DC powered items from any AC power source (look under the category "AC to DC" on our products pages), however these are less common.
